0:31.4	have reached an agreement on two potential bills meant to strengthen the administration

0:36.6	The first bill will make changes to the Electoral Contact of 1845, which you would have
0:41.4	thought may have been due for an update after a little-known war that happened two decades

0:46.4	Anyway, the new bill will raise the threshold from one representative and one senator needed
0:50.8	to challenge a state set of electors, and instead require 20% of the members of each
0:55.5	the House and the Senate.
0:57.0	It would also aim to ensure that each state's slate of electors is not up for debate by
1:01.5	specifying that state governors are responsible for submitting the certificate that identifies
1:06.0	the state's electors, and it would also require Congress to abide by those electors.
1:11.2	The second bill that's been agreed upon in the Senate increases election security by tightening
1:15.1	criminal penalties for individuals who intimidate election officials, poll watchers, voters,
1:19.9	or candidates, or who seal or alter election records or tamper with voting systems.
