January 5th, 2023. The core four. The four headlines you need to know. California's governor

declared a state of emergency throughout the entire state in response to a

winter storm. This gives them the ability to authorize the California National Guard to support

disaster response if necessary. The National Weather Service is forecasting heavy rain and snow,

strong wind, and the potential for flooding. They're warning people to prepare for debris flows

and landslides. The storm is expected to hit Northern California this morning and be in Southern

California by this evening. The director of the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services

said this is expected to be the most challenging and impactful series of

storms to touch down in California in the last five years.

It is pretty rare for Joe Biden and Donald Trump to agree on anything, but yesterday they both

voiced the same opinion. The House of Representatives is getting embarrassing.

For the second day in a row, the United States House of Representatives couldn't move past their first order of business, which is electing a new speaker of the House.

The representatives needed to elect a new speaker before they can proceed with any other official duty.

And Tuesday, for the first time in a hundred

years, the majority party failed to elect their representative on the first try. And yesterday,
