Welcome today to our episode and looking forward to talking a little bit about a topic that we don't

0:07.5

like to talk about and that is fasting. Fasting and praying. How important is it? What does the Bible say

0:14.5

about it? And how did Jesus say we should do it? Listen it. Welcome to Everyday Truth with Kurt Skelly. We believe the Bible

0:23.5

is true and relevant to everyone, everywhere, every day. If today's conversation is a help to you,

0:31.8

take a moment to leave a review or share it with a friend. Thanks for listening. Now, let's join Kurt for today's episode.

Hey, friends. Welcome back. We're in Matthew chapter six, as you know. I was just thinking about

0:45.5

something today, and that is, whenever we get to these parts of the Bible where Jesus is actually

0:52.4

doing teaching, it's a recording of Jesus teaching. Have you noticed that we

0:57.0

1:37.7

1:50.2

number 14, actually verse number 14, where the Bible says, if you forgive men, their trespasses,

1:59.4

your Heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you forgive not men, their trespasses, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you forgive not men,

2:04.1

their trespasses, neither will your father forgive your trespasses. And I think what Jesus is

2:10.7

speaking to there is a clarification of forgive as you forgive. And forgive me, Lord, as I forgive others, I think is the point I wanted to make.

2:22.1

And the point there is that my willingness to extend forgiveness is an indication of my seriousness

2:30.2

in asking for forgiveness. So Jesus is qualifying the sincerity of the motive of the person
