There would have been shops and all kinds of stuff going on,

a big theater here at bathhouses.

More importantly, this is a significant place in the Bible.

Hey, friends. I am sitting on the top of a biblical site called Betchan. Literally means the

house of security. You're seeing behind me. In fact, let me just show it to you.

This is just a portion of the ruins of Betcham.

The city was destroyed in 749 by a massive earthquake.

But what you're looking at right down below is the main road of the city called the Cardo.

And there were extensive bathhouses and shops

and everything that a city of opulence would have.

In the distance you're seeing a theater,

really only part of a theater that sat 7,000 people.
