0:00.0	It's Thursday, January 23rd, 2025. I'm Albert Moller, and this is the briefing, a daily analysis of
0:11.8	news and events from a Christian worldview. We will come back to the United States, but today we need
0:16.7	to start in the Middle East. In particular, we need to start with the ceasefire that has been
0:21.8	arranged between Israel and Hamas. Now, the mainstream media has been talking a lot about this,
0:28.0	and in international terms, this is probably right now the most important story. But events related
0:33.4	to the inauguration in the first couple of days of the presidency, the second term of President
0:38.9	Donald J. Trump, that is eclipsed just about everything else in the news media. But we do need to
0:44.3	come back to this, and we need to remind ourselves of what is happening here. For our purposes today,
0:48.9	we need to start with October 7, 2003, and the brutal massacre undertaken by Hamas, Hamas an Islamic terrorist organization
0:57.1	committed to the annihilation of Israel, went across the border, and slaughtered an incredible
1:03.2	number of Israelis. It was the largest single death toll going all the way back to Israel's
1:07.9	war of independence. Furthermore, Hamas, as is its custom, also took a
1:12.7	good number of hostages and has been holding those hostages. Israel eventually responded with open
1:18.5	warfare. Most of that has taken place in that very narrow strip of land known as the Gaza Strip.
1:24.6	And even as the Palestinian people has suffered a very great deal, Hamas has continued
1:29.1	to cling to power. And Israel has understood one thing more than anything else, and it has
1:33.9	understood this with crystal clarity. If Hamas is not defeated, one of the military words here
1:40.0	is annihilated. If Hamas continues as a potent force, Israel is going to be threatened by that
1:45.8	force for the continuation of the existence of Hamas. So Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli prime
1:52.4	minister, has been very clear about his stated goal of defeating Hamas, indeed eliminating
1:57.8	Hamas. That has not happened. At the same time, an enormous amount of political
2:02.6	pressure has been brought upon Israel, and honestly, Israel facing so many different military fronts
