A big winter storm hitting the Northeast right now, making for a dangerous morning commute for millions of Americans.

Snow, sleet, and ice, freezing rain. It's all moving overnight from the Midwest to the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic States.

We have team covered this morning. We begin with Trevor Alt. He's just outside Philly in Norristown, Pennsylvania. Good morning, Trevor.

Good morning, George. So this storm is hitting the northeast just in time for rush hour,

and we keep seeing these salt trucks that are outworking trying to protect the roads because we are teetering right on the edge of freezing. It means we're getting a mix of snow, ice, sleet, and some

rain too. It is a very dangerous mix for drivers. This morning, millions of

Americans hunkering down as a winter storm sweeps across the country. Ohio to Boston, facing

freezing rain and dropping temperatures, the icy mix creating hazardous conditions for commuters

up and down the East Coast.

Overnight road crews in Washington, D.C. deploying snow plows and loading bags of salt ahead of the storm.

The system striking parts of the Midwest as well.

Icey roads and poor conditions causing dozens of accidents leading to lane closures along I-70. In Seattle, a separate storm system

blanketing highways with snow, authorities responding to multiple collisions, snow showers, transforming

communities overnight, covering houses and cars. And the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation

says they have 400 snow plows working through the night just in this area.

But of course, this is a widespread storm system, at least 16 states under snow and ice alerts, Rebecca.
