0:14.0	Pope Francis has been in that office since the year 2013.
0:18.9	And ever since he's been in that office, it has appeared that he has been trying to undo
0:24.2	the legacy of his two most immediate predecessors, Titanic personalities, Pope Benedict XVI, and
0:30.6	then Pope John Paul II.
0:33.4	All of this is a part of an unfolding history of the Roman Catholic Church.
0:37.7	And on the briefing today, we are looking at this Pope and we are looking at current issues
0:42.2	within the Roman Catholic Church because we need to understand these issues don't
0:46.5	stay just in the Roman Catholic Church.
0:49.6	And what we are looking at is a pattern that will have worldwide influence.
0:53.7	And so we who are evangelical Christians and do not even recognize the papacy as a legitimate

1:00.9	And we have, after all, a very clear line of medication between the Roman Catholic Church
1:06.1	and evangelical Protestantism.
1:08.6	We do understand that when millions of people around the world think of Christianity,
1:13.7	they think of the Pope and they care what the Pope says.
1:17.2	And they think it represents Christianity.
1:20.2	Now that poses a host of problems or evangelicals.
1:22.6	We don't believe in the papacy in the first place, but it also points to the fact that
1:27.1	the character of the papacy does affect our challenge.
1:31.0	It does shape our challenge.
