and we have a lot of news to share today. It's Thursday, June 12th. Washington Governor Bob

Ferguson has canceled his weekend plans. Instead, he'll be closely following the situation in Los Angeles

where military are deployed on certain blocks ahead of more protests expected across Western Washington on Saturday.

Today, Ferguson stressed his support for the fundamental right to protest, but had this message for Washingtonians.

The main thing I'll want to say to folks who engage in that constitutional right is obviously do that in a peaceful way.

Anything that is not peaceful, anything that violates the law or is violent, only does one thing.

It plays into Donald Trump's hands.

The governor says he's in touch with Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown after that city declared a curfew last night.

Ferguson called the deployment of the National Guard to L.A.

an unlawful escalation by President Trump.

And Washington State is taking legal action.

Attorney General Nick Brown is leading an effort by 21 states to oppose President Trump's military deployment in California. As Amy

Radle reports, a federal judge in California heard arguments on the question today. Nick Brown and the other

states submitted a friend of the court brief Wednesday night. It supports California Governor Gavin Newsom in his

legal challenge to Trump's actions in response to recent protests.

Newsom asked a federal judge to block Trump's deployment of that state's National Guard and U.S. Marines for crowd control and protection of federal facilities.
