This is Seattle Now. I'm Patricia Murphy. Here are today's top stories. It's Thursday, June 6th.

At about 12.30 this afternoon, officers responded to a shooting in the 400 block of 23rd here at Garfield High School.

They found a victim down near the performance center.

That's SPD Deputy Chief Eric Barden.

Speaking to reporters, the 17-year-old student was transported to Harborview Medical Center

with multiple gunshot wounds in serious condition.

Katie Campbell was there and filed this report. I'm at Garfield High School where the Seattle

Police Department say one male student was shot by another high school-aged boy. SPD could not yet

say whether the shooter was also a Garfield High student, nor do they know who he was. SPD is still searching for

the suspect. What we do know is the victim reportedly broke up an earlier fight between the shooter

and another boy. The suspect later pulled a gun and shot the victim. We spoke with parent

Crystal Young outside Garfield High School today. She rendered first aid to the student who was shot.

Young told us her son, who's in ninth grade, has been at the school for several shootings this year.

My son has had to go inside from track practice because of a shooting.

During the day, he's been pulled inside from PE because of a shooting.

He was actually, one of his bandmates got shot, a little girl that was in his section,

and the band got shot over at the gas station that he was walking to that evening.
