In breaking news today, Seattle police say a 12-year-old girl was hit and killed by a car this

afternoon. It happened outside Washington Middle School in the central district.

The details are grim. Police say the vehicle was apparently not placed in park and that it rolled down a small hill and hit the child.

Authorities say they're in touch with and investigating the person who parked the vehicle.
