Robert Zellick is warning that Donald Trump could push Beijing toward a parallel

system that would clash with the US interests.

Mr. Zellick is the former president of the World Bank and served in both Bush administrations.

He spoke at the U.S. China Business Council in Washington last night, and he said that the

White House's constant confrontation with China was ineffective and based on faulty reasoning.

Now I understand many of today's complaints, but we are at serious risk of losing sight of American eaves and how best to achieve them.

The US and China are trying to lock down a deal in a trade war that's 20 months old.

The Trump administration has put tariffs on

360 billion dollars of Chinese goods since March of last year. Mr.

Zellick added that people who believe China is only a quote disruptor or misleading themselves.
