But we're going to begin with the coldest air of the season

as an Arctic blast sweeps across months of the country.

The actual temperature is below zero in parts of the Midwest,

and the freezing temperatures in the Northeast are still dropping.

Gender is standing by, but Alec Perez starts us off in frigid Minneapolis.

Good morning, Alex.

Hey, good morning, Michael.

The snow here now is completely frozen over.

The fuel-like temperature here in Minneapolis right now is about 16 below zero.

This is the kind of cold officials say can very quickly become very dangerous.

This morning, an Arctic blast taking aim at millions from the Midwest to the east coast.

Several cities preparing for record lows from the bone-chilling cold after that powerful nor'easter turned roads to ice rinks all over the northeast.

A scary scene north of New York City after an out-of-control plow truck slammed into a car causing a chain reaction crash.

That car careening into the back of a school bus, thankfully no one was hurt.

Oh, it's a slip and slide. Vehicles fish tailing on black ice, other vehicles slowing down

just in time. Outside of Boston, this cruiser left a mangled mess. After hydroplaining and

flipping several times, the officer inside was injured. Even four-wheel drive vehicles were

no match for the slick roads.

The roads were already wet and then the snow just came up on top of it. So you can't really see the black ice.

The coldest air of the season now moving in. And they are expecting a bit of a rebound here, more moderate temperatures the next couple of days as this cold air now moves east. Robin. All right.
