of our drinking water.

That's right.

For the last 50 years, ever since these forever chemicals were pumped into basically all

of our everyday products, there was no legal standard for how much of it could be present in our drinking water.

Now, I should be clear, there was never a federal limit, but states were allowed to create

whatever they wanted.
