I'm Walsalva, and these are a good morning football headlines from NFL Network.

Joe Hertz finishing 2020 is the evil starting TV, but despite the team shipping out the

former starter Carson Wentz, New York coach Nick Sheriani has yet to determine

if Hertz will stay at the top of the depth chart.

With former Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco also on the team's roster, Hertz has competition entering

his second season and it's something he said he's embracing.

No one is above that and everybody, everybody got to go to work, you know. So for me,

I know rent is due every day. It's always been that way for me. Always been a get better mentality

every day, grow every day, be a better leader every day, be a better quarterback every day.

And when that rents do, I don't plan on missing no payments.

Wow, okay, I like it.

And since we're talking quarterback competitions, San Francisco now has their QB of the future

after drafting Kay Lance with the third overall pick last month.

And GM John Lynch saying that their QB of the present, Jimmy Garoppolo, has been kept in the loop the whole time.

I think from day one, we've been very upfront with Jimmy.

And, you know, when I went to Jimmy, I told him the truth that, like, look, we have made a decision that we're going to pursue a quarterback this offseason.

You know, Jimmy, when you've played, you've been tremendous, and the record speaks to that.

We feel like there's room for growth, and we think it's a good situation for you.

Probably not the one you ultimately want to hear.

I'm sure you want to be the long-term guy.
