New Senate Majority Leader John Thune is talking the talk, but can he walk the walk?

Newly minted Senate Majority Leader John Thune of South Dakota, he's going to be the one primarily responsible in my mind for making sure Donald Trump's cabinet appointments

actually get Senate approval.

It's going to be a tall task for people like Matt Gates.

More on that a little bit,

and probably RFK Jr. more on that as well. But so far, John Thune, despite the fact that he's

been a vocal critic of Donald Trump in the past, he's pretty much talking the talk. We'll see

if he can walk the walk. Here he is on Fox News late last week, saying if Democrats try to play

obstructionists in the Senate,

he's going to be okay with Donald Trump actually just making recess appointments.

Well, what I said is, Brett, and I think that all options are on the table, including recess

appointments.

Hopefully it doesn't get to that, but we'll find out fairly quickly whether the Democrats

want to play ball or not.

And I think part of it is getting these folks, we'll start having confirmation hearings

soon as the new Senate has sworn in in January.

President takes the oath of office January 20th.

By the time he takes the oath of office, hopefully a lot of those nominees will be through

their confirmation hearings and will be ready to act on them on the Senate floor.
