Summary

Throwback Files: Mothman | Paranormal Podcast Welcome to the Throwback Files on The Mothman! This new series will allow us to explore older episodes that some of you newer listeners may not have had a chance to hear. We will include thoughts on why we chose each particular episode, along with new comments at the end of the episode. We hope you enjoy this new monthly throwback Thursday special. The Mothman: Mothman is a legendary humanoid creature reportedly seen in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, between November 1966 and December 1967, described by witnesses as a seven-foot-tall figure with glowing red eyes and large wings that pursued vehicles while making screeching sounds. The phenomenon began when two couples reported encountering the creature near a former WWII munitions plant, sparking widespread media coverage and numerous additional sightings throughout the region. Following the December 15, 1967, collapse of the Silver Bridge and the death of 46 people,[16] the incident gave rise to the legend and connected the Mothman sightings to the bridge collapse. Wildlife experts believe the Mothman legend likely originated from misidentified sandhill cranes or herons that had wandered outside their normal migration routes, as these birds match the physical descriptions and possess naturally reddish coloring around their eyes. 🛸 Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. 🛸 Have a paranormal encounter or story you'd like told on the podcast? Submit it here. 🛸 For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media: Instagram Facebook Twitter Discord 🛸 Shop Merch: You can rep Believing the Bizarre and buy some unique merch 🛸 Want to send BTB something? Welcome to the Throwback Files, where we revisit episodes from the past. Oh boy. So Tyler and I both listened to you, The Moth Man. Have you guys heard of him? Moth Man. Was he from Ohio? No. You fought for it in this episode. I did. This is, I mean, obviously a top three cryptid.

0:55.7

Yeah, exactly. And that's why I picked to do this one for this episode. Well, what is this? Let's at least like break down. Like, what are we doing? What is the purpose of this? I don't know if you guys notice. We are getting dangerously close to 300 episodes. Ooh. You're right. We are in the two 80s as of the recording of this.

0:56.6

280.

1:10.8

And we know some of you all been around for the entire ride. Thank you so much. That's a hell of a roller coaster. And we know some of you found us maybe recently and you binged from the beginning. But we also know that there's some people that found us and, you know, you start on the episode you found, and you're moving forward. You know, the train moves forward. Yeah. And you're not looking back. It's almost too much to catch up at this point. It would be intimidating for me. I'll be honest. If I started listening to a new show, I probably wouldn't go 200 episodes back. I listen to more timely shows, to be honest, though. But we thought that the throwback files would be a unique opportunity to highlight older selected episodes.

Charlie chose the one this month and I'll choose next month.

And it'll be fun.

So there is some new content at the end of this episode. It doesn't just go into the abyss back to 2020, five years ago as recording this, which is crazy. Yeah. Yeah, I don't, I don't want to think about time. So I could think I interrupted you. Why did you pick Mothman? Oh, yeah. Ah, Mothman. I picked Mothman because, I mean,

2:17.8

he's on Mount Rushmore. He's right behind us in this wall right here. He is, he is one of the most
