Welcome back to the Ross Bolin podcast presented by Bolin Media today. I want to talk about the state of youth sports in the United States of America. Now, this might be a bit of a controversial topic for some of you, mainly if you're spending like eight hours a week on organized sports

with a kid that's under 10 years old. So I'll preface this by saying, whatever you do with your

kid, that's your kid. It's your choice. Do what you think is best for your kid and your family.

I'm not judging. Not judging, no judgment, just sharing my

opinions and jokes for entertainment and educational purposes. You do you, player, you do you.

This topic came up because this morning, a buddy of mine author Kyle Banduho who recently released his first book,

Movies with Balls, the greatest sports films of all time, analyzed and illustrated,

which I've actually got a copy of here on set and you should buy.

He posted something to Instagram about four to six-year- old tee ball tryouts where he lives and the post said

it was looking for quote hardworking athletes and dedicated parents to join their spring roster it also

specified this t ball team will have two games a week, one to three

tournaments a month, and one fundraiser presumably for uniforms and field maintenance and shit

like that. Again, this is for four to six-year-old kids, okay? And to be clear, Kyle was posting this to point out

like how absurd of a time commitment this is

for both little kids, like four-year-olds

and the parents of those kids.

He wasn't just advertising some league.

I'm not just throwing him under the bus,

shamelessly.

And before I dive into why I think

the state of youth sports in America

is at least a little ridiculous.
