Well, you guys ready for a little Zachariah?

Yeah, we're getting it done, getting close to the end of the Old Testament.

It's quite a deal. I mean, it feels like a big event to me.

It's been, I don't know, 14 years or so, since 15, since the last time we're in Zechariah, so, and the New Testament's been almost that long.

So we've got work to do tonight.

We left off in Zachariah chapter 1, so why don't you turn there at this time?

One of the things that we should remember, the value and the importance of vision.

But one of the things I've noticed, people get all weirded out when it comes to the things about vision and dreams.

And I know that the Bible talks about that, but one thing, you know, one of the scriptures we probably know most when it comes to the idea of vision is Proverbs 29-18, you know, where there's no vision, the people, as it says, they perish.

But he that keepeth the law happy as he.

You might say, well, Brett, what does keeping the law have to do with, you know, vision?

And why are those two things put together there in our text of this Proverbs text, I should say?

Well, it's funny because I think there's a couple words there, perish and also the word vision.

These are kind of important words when it comes to this whole idea.

The word parish, by the way, in the Hebrew text is para, which it means to let go,

to let loose. You know, like if you had a wild animal and you finally let it go, you let it

loose. That's what this word perish means. Now, there is a little bit of a connotation in the Hebrew word of letting something go to its own demise.

You know, it's like, you know, when you were on the old farm, if you ever saw a chicken with heads cut off, I actually saw that.

Did you see that?

That's a real thing.

If you grew up on a farm and you let it go and it just goes, but it's to its own

demise. That's kind of the idea. A chicken with its head cut off? Yeah, the Hebrew word, to perish
