So Paul has been teaching us, of course, about sin.

But he sort of, last week in chapter 7 said,

how can I deal with this sinful person that I am,

or the sinful flesh, or the carnal man?

How can we conquer sin?

But by the end of the chapter, it's almost like he worked through his own mental gyrations

to realize it's not a how, but it's a who. Remember verse 18 of chapter seven. If you look back,

it says in verse 18, for I know that in me that is in my flesh dwelleth no good thing.

For to will is present with me but how to perform that

which is good i find not oh how elusive it is paul is saying to try to figure out how to do the right

thing and not walk in the flesh and do sinful stuff but then he boils it down to it's not really about the how, it's about the who.

And he says that in verses 24 and 25. He says, oh, wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from

the body of this death. And then he acknowledges the who who the who is there in verse 25. I thank God

through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind, I myself serve the law of God, but with the

flesh, the law of sin. Basically, Paul's remind us, the flesh cannot keep the law. The flesh is not mighty to help us victorious over sin,

but that's where we have to trust in the who, not the how. The who is Jesus Christ. And so we're going to

see that continue, this discussion about the warring of the flesh and the spirit,

we're going to see that continue in chapter 8. And so it says in chapter 8, verse 1,

there is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus. Boy, don't you love that?

But it goes on if you have the King James Bible.

So the first part, there is therefore now no condemnation to them,

which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit.
