It is, believe it or not, the third anniversary of the day that Boris Johnson announced that the COVID lockdown would begin and would begin immediately.

It's a strange one, isn't it?

Because I woke up this morning, I heard the words that he spoke all 17 seconds of it,

and suddenly thought, my goodness, it doesn't seem like three years.

It doesn't seem at all like that sort of time has passed.

But how much has changed in this country?

How much has changed in the world?

And how much will never return to the same place that we were in just three years and one day ago?

Walking into work this morning is an awful lot of people wearing masks. I don't know why so many people are wearing masks.

It seems as if there's even more people wearing masks now than there were even a couple of months ago.

It's a beautiful spring day. It's about 13, 14 degrees, a light breeze.

Talking to Julie Hartley Brewer just now, there are people who are still suffering from the long-term effects of what happened in those three years, whether it be children who didn't get to school, whether it be people who didn't get diagnosed with cancer, whether it be people who still waiting to get seen by the NHS, whether it be people who lost their jobs because they couldn't get any furlough money, who lost their businesses because they weren't supportable, who weren't able to keep going simply because there was not enough money.
