The Gospel is the good news of salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ,

but it is only good news to those who hear it.

Every believer is to go with the Gospel.

Today, we study with Scott Pauling what God's Word teaches about becoming

a more effective witness for Christ.

Your prayers can go where you cannot. And the reason for that is because the God who hears and answers prayers will go where you cannot.

We're talking about going and we're talking about praying.

We've talked about the fact that we should be praying for lost people to be saved.

And while that's very true, there's a second thing we should be praying for if we want the gospel to get out, and that is we need to be praying for laborers to be sent. Matthew

chapter 9, verse 28, is the one stated prayer request of Jesus Christ. Now consider this. The only

thing Jesus ever specifically instructed his disciples to pray for was this one thing.

Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest that he will send forth laborers into his harvest.

The more I'm in the work of the Lord and the more I see the need around me and the lack of labors, the more I understand Christ's heart and the reason that this is Jesus' prayer request.

We ought to be praying for the Lord to send more laborers, asking the Holy Spirit to work in

the hearts of children and young people, and even for older saints in the church, to be stirred up

to find their place in the wonderful plan of getting the gospel to the ends of the earth.

You ought to pray that every believer in your church will become a faithful witness,

and while you're at it, pray that you will be the faithful witness you're supposed to be.

It's funny how we want everybody else to obey besides us.

So we ought to pray that the Lord will send labors.

Then we ought to pray for the labors that are already working in the harvest.

Pray for preachers of the gospel, for your pastor, for evangelists, for missionaries.
