Summary

I don’t always advocate for things men “should” or “must” do, but when I do… It’s taken years of working on myself, working with mentors, and working with other men to really settle on these three things, but I’ve come to cherish them and what they’ve brought me. I’ve also seen what they’ve brought other men, from friends to coworkers to clients of my own. Long story short: they’ll do you good. Did you enjoy the podcast? All right, men, welcome to The Man Talk Show. I'm Connor Beaton. And today we're going to be talking

0:04.9

about the three things that every man should do every single day. After having worked with men

0:12.6

for over a decade and worked on myself for a very long time, these are the three things that I have

0:17.2

found to be incredibly important for you as a man to implement every single

0:23.3

day. I think Jaka Willing said it best. He said, discipline equals freedom. And so when we have

0:29.5

discipline in certain areas of our lives, when we have certain things that we are unequivocally

0:35.1

committed to as men, that creates a sense of direction. It creates a

0:40.3

sense of resiliency. And it creates an understanding within ourselves that we can take on certain tasks.

0:47.9

And for most men within our society today, they're lacking this kind of chosen hardship, right? This lack of, I'm going to choose to do

0:58.6

challenging things, I'm going to choose to have some type of structure within my life every single

1:05.6

day. And that structure is incredibly important because without that, freedom is kind of ethereal, you know?

1:12.1

The man who can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants, however he wants, with whoever he wants,

1:17.5

doesn't actually feel a sense of freedom. He feels a sense of chaos because there's no

1:22.5

clear structure within his life. All right. So where do we begin? The first thing is to push your edge.

1:29.3

And what I mean by that is to do hard shit every single day, to do hard things mentally,

1:37.2

emotionally, psychologically, physically, maybe sexually, right, within your relationship to have

1:43.3

a conversation that you've been wanting to

1:44.9

have to experiment or explore in some capacity, to push yourself physically. And it doesn't have to be

1:50.9

the same thing every single day. But the fact that you actively choose to have a tough

1:57.3

conversation with your boss or with one of your employees to push yourself physically

2:03.2

when you feel resistance towards calling one of your buddies forward and giving them some feedback

2:07.7

but you decide to go and do it anyway it's those types of moments when you push your edge when you
