0:16.3	And today we're going to be talking about the pines.
0:19.2	Sam, why don't you set the scene for us?
0:21.0	Yeah, so the pine barons are a gigantic forest that just cuts across the total southern half of New Jersey.
0:31.3	It's 1.1 million acres of land.
0:33.9	It accounts for 22% of New Jersey's total land mass. And it contains like in aquifers and stuff
0:41.8	underneath it, it contains 17 trillion gallons of fresh water. It has, it's just rich in natural
0:48.7	resources. It's a beautiful place. There's thick trees, crystal clear blue water in certain places.
0:56.6	But it's not all fun and games.
1:00.8	Of course there has to be a catch.

1:02.6	So what's been going down?
1:03.6	Well, because of the thickness of the trees and the vastness of the area,
1:08.9	it's home to countless ghost towns.
1:11.6	There's an entire, I guess, subsection of humanity,
1:16.7	section of humanity that lives out there called the Pineys,
1:19.5	which are, as far as I understand it, just hillbillies.

1:25.4	And it is home to more than a few local legends, including things like Satanism, practices
