In this lesson, you'll practice using Have Something Done to arrange services.

Let's look at the main dialogue.

Two people are having a conversation. How often do we have the equipment

serviced? It depends, but every six months is good for most of the equipment. Got it.

What about cleaning? How often should we have the carpets cleaned, for example? The phrase,

have something serviced uses the causative form have plus object plus past

participle.

This means you arrange for someone else, usually a professional, to do the service.

For example, I had my car repaired yesterday.
