Summary

A “perfectly normal” college apartment hides something that only comes out once the room goes still and the eyes finally close. A mist gathers in the open closet—too dark, too deliberate—and shapes itself into a towering figure that claims the doorway night after night. Our storyteller writes it off as stress, exhaustion, maybe even a breakdown… until long after the lease ends, when one casual question from a former roommate blows that comforting lie to pieces.

Because she saw it too. So did her sister. So did a friend who slept in the wrong bed—and felt like the shadow hated him for it.
