This is the movement of the Holy Family.

Welcome to our Rosary meditation.

Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen. Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

Now yesterday we meditated on what it means to live an authentic human life.

To be authentic we can't just follow our heart, our feelings because following our spontaneous impulses our

spontaneous impulses can be disastrous.

Imagine acting upon every feeling that came over us.

Yeah, not so good. So today let's get a good grasp on what it means

to be a human person that we are made up of more than just the emotions.

We have a soul, which is actually made up of three powers,

the intellect, the feelings, and the will. And here is how the soul was designed by God to work.

The intellect perceives or becomes aware of reality

through the five senses, through the imagination or the memory,

and the intellect then presents its perception of reality to the feelings

as, this is right and good for me me or this is wrong and bad for me.

The feelings then respond to what the intellect presented with, I like this, prompting the will to choose it, or I dislike that, prompting the will to avoid it.

Then the will chooses the apparent good and avoids the evil.

That's how the powers of the soul are supposed to work. Thinking should inform our feelings which prompt our choices.

Thinking should rule our lives, not feeling.

The feelings are good, but they are meant to be good servants,

and if left in charge, they become very bad masters.
