Summary

Len and Rowan come in for a low glide over 2022's calendar of strategy game releases to discuss what excites us, what worries us, and what smaller stuff we're keeping an eye on. Will Victoria 3 live up to the hype? Can Marvel's Midnight Suns satisfy our in-house X-Mean aficionado? Will Dwarf Fortress ever actually come out? We don't know the answers to any of these questions, but we can certainly discuss them over a few drinks.

One of the interesting things is it's like nobody announces release dates anymore,

0:58.9

which I know this isn't the first year that's happened,

1:01.8

but the latest that we have a release date for anything is actually the end of March,

1:07.1

and everything else is just like 2022 or when it's done.

1:11.8

1:16.1

on Steam one day and nobody's ever heard of it and then suddenly everybody gets really into it.

1:22.9

Yeah, I think the pandemic has accelerated this because people really don't want to put deadlines.

1:30.6

But like, I think it's just generally sort of good for the industry that crunching to meet very specific dates is no longer like quite as prevalent.

1:43.3

It's still pretty prevalent.

1:44.4

I'm sure there's still other ways

1:45.6

that companies are trying to force people to crunch.
