Summary

Rob, Rowan, and Kotaku's Luke Plunkett pull up a space chair and talk about Battlestar Galactica Deadlock. In addition to the admirable lack of colons in the title, Deadlock manages to take a licensed IP and turn it into a faithful and satisfying gaming experience. If the term "broadsides in space" gets your solar sails at half mast, this may be an episode for you.

Deadlock, which they published with Slytherine. And Luke, I wanted you on this show because,

0:36.5

to a degree, you were one of the people who brought this to my attention.

0:39.9

Like, Slytherine PR had reached out and, you know, asked if I want to take a look at it.

0:45.8

But I wasn't really too curious about it until I saw you writing about it on Kataku with a bit of an air of surprise

0:53.6

that after all this time we had a

0:55.7

good Battlestar Galactica game. So I guess I was, you know, I was hoping you can sort of lead off

1:02.3

with what is Battlestar Galactica. And why is it such a surprise? Well, it's a surprise

1:09.9

because like I sort of implied in the coverage for Kataku, we haven't

1:13.9

really had good Battlestar Galactica games, which given the nature of the property, was

1:19.3

always kind of surprising that, you know, it's been, what, has it been over 10 years since

1:24.6

that show started, which was, you know, you think that's ample time for

1:27.8

somebody to cobble together some kind of official strategy game or Starfighter game or something

1:33.3

that sort of made the best use of this license. And nobody ever had. But, you know, me being this

1:39.7

complete Battlestar Galactica tragic, who had very recently only just actually rewatched the series

1:47.2

again for the first time since I think it actually ended originally.
