Hey, so glad you're with us for the Friday edition of the three martini lunch.

We've once again made it to the end of a very busy week.

A week ago, we were not at war with Iran.

That's how much has happened in the last several days. We'll be talking about that a little bit today as well.

But Jim, we start with where we were talking yesterday. And we said that Christy Noem was on the hot seat at DHS.

We said that Trump was not happy with her testimony.

He really wasn't and that he was running out of patience.

Well, he ran out of patience around the same time we were discussing it yesterday.

And she has now been dismissed as the Secretary of Homeland Security.

It looks like Oklahoma Senator Mark Wayne Mullen is the president's choice to replace her.

He'll have to go through confirmation, of course, but I don't suspect that that'll be much of a problem.

Yesterday, we talked about the exchange between her and Senator Kennedy

and how they spent $220 million of taxpayer money.

I don't know if we gave the exact figure, but we said it was a lot of money. $220 million to put together all these TV spots, touting that Department of Homeland Security, part of that was probably recruitment for new personnel, given how much they wanted to ramp up internal enforcement. But still, close to a quarter of a billion dollars to make TV spots, that seems like a lot. That seems like way too much.

And so in addition to that, and Noeming and hauling and then suggesting that, yes, the president

was fully aware of what was happening here and how much was being spent. Senator Kennedy then asked

her, hey, was that a open bid process? She's like, oh yeah, oh yeah. Everything was decided by career professionals.

Everything was on the up and up.

Kennedy, though, later in the interrogation on Capitol Hill this week, not buying it.
