That is the time every week where we look at what's going on in the world of economics

and finance and money.

And we bring to you what we find the most interesting or what you may have missed.

And what a week it's been, right? I mean, what do you even start?

You've got the European Union and the UK posting another round of sanctions against Russia.

China's stock markets have been sea-song as they've been trying to deal with COVID outbreaks

in real estate downturns.

And here at home, the Fed raised interest rates for the first time in about three years.

Which is all to say that in any other week, a $1.5 trillion spending bill down in Washington

DC might have been big news.

But instead, the omnibus spending bill flew through the house in the Senate and it was signed

by President Biden on Tuesday with not much fanfare.

And we thought, well, why don't we give it a little bit of fanfare?

Yeah, because this 2700-page document is like a corneucopia of government spending.

It's got everything in it from money for our health and science to aid for Ukraine and

military spending.

And defense spending, by the way, it makes up about half the bill.

But we're not going to focus on that today.
