2019 has arrived, and this is three guys before the game.

Our very first edition of the new year, our 80th episode,

and with it comes a change of the guard in West Virginia University's athletic hierarchy,

the football coach of the Mountaineers,

Dana Holgerson, on his way out to the University of Houston.

And now the clock is on for West Virginia University's athletic director, Shane Lyons,

and his staff to find a replacement.

I'm Tony Carrity along with the Senator Brad Howe, the dean, Hoppy Kirchival.

And as we promised to you yesterday, we were going to follow this story on a breaking news basis.

And so, for the first time in podcast history, we're back at you in a 24-hour span.

And I listened back to yesterday's show this morning

while I was walking the dog, and we were fair, we were on it, and we did say that we could be

back very, very quickly. So here we are. Smoke became fire, and fire has extingu Dana Holgerson at WVU.

So we'll jump into a bunch of the different things.

I think we'll spend most of our time now on possible replacement candidates.

We'll get into that.

But before we do that, so it's over.

So it's done after eight seasons, which is a long run for college football

coaches, it's a long run at West Virginia. And Dana makes a surprising move, I think, nationally

to go to the University of Houston. We talked yesterday about the affinity that he had for the city when he was there before. So maybe not as

shocking for some of us that have kind of known that, but maybe some in the college football world,
