| 0:00.0 | Hello and welcome to the Consistency Project podcast. My name is Patrick Cummton. I'm here as always with E.C. Sinkowski. Every week, we aim to simplify the principles and practices of nutrition, health, and fitness. And we thank you for tuning in to the show, this last show of the year. Hi, E.C., how are you? Wonderful. How are you? I'm great. Happy New Year, almost. I know. We're getting there. We thought we'd have some fun. |
| 0:23.9 | We're going to wrap up the year with a buffet of silliness. We've got three headlines that came across your desk this year that, to say, the least, made your eyes roll. And then we're going to do one at the end, which I'm happy we're going to do. We're going to one that you wish more people saw. So that's what we got. We got four headlines, three being silly, one being, I don't know if the headline's silly, but the article itself is at least worth reading. So that's what we've got this week. Before we jump in, one more quick reminder. Your 10-week accelerator is happening very soon, way too soon. It's a hands-on small group program where you will develop |
| 0:56.6 | a personalized nutrition plan using the Three Pillars method, which of course, if you've been |
| 1:00.4 | listening, you know, 800 grams, fruits and vegetables every day, 0.7 grams of protein per pound |
| 1:04.9 | of body weight and a personalized caloric target. This evidence-based approach is sustainable, |
| 1:09.9 | flexible, and designed for real |
| 1:11.6 | results, not quick fixes. And like I said, the next cohort is starting just here in a few days |
| 1:17.0 | early January, I think January 5th, correct me, if I'm wrong, EC. For folks who want to jump in there. |
| 1:23.3 | Yeah, okay, registered by Jan 5th. Optimizemenutrition.com slash accelerator is the place to go. |
| 1:29.7 | And you've got some coaches running through coaches masterclass at the same time, right? |
| 1:34.2 | Yeah, so the coaches masterclass will be the exact same dates, also 10 weeks. |
| 1:39.7 | Also registration closes Jan 5th. |
| 1:42.7 | And that one, we go through the same three pillars method process |
| 1:46.5 | because they have to understand it from an individual point of view that is super definitely going to |
| 1:52.1 | be very important to help teach to other people but then also we have all these coaches specific |
| 1:57.6 | topics like setting expectations and how to screen clients and what happens |
| 2:02.9 | when clients plateau and all of that stuff. So if you're interested on that, go ahead and join |
| 2:09.2 | the coaches masterclass cohort. Oh, and I think it's, yeah, optimize menutrition.com slash |
| 2:15.5 | masterclass coaches one word. Got it. All right. We'll give those URLs at the end of the episode one more time just so folks don't miss it. And we'll put them in the show notes as well. So we got you covered out there if you're interested. Like I said, the top four headlines. Where should we begin? Where do you want to start? Yeah. I mean, you kind of hinted that we're just going to have some fun a little bit with this episode, but definitely some silly nutrition headlines. One actually caught my attention this past week, and I kind of posted to stories. And then I was just sort of thinking, yeah, there's some really silly ones out there. And I think really, besides the fact of kind of dissecting these individual ones, I think why, just pointing out like why the 24-7 news cycle and the attention economy is, I think, to some degree, just making us crazy and really kind of keeping us stuck versus actually being useful and, quote, more information. So that's kind of the overall message here, although I think we're going to have some fun with some of these. |
| 3:11.3 | All right, cool. First one. I think this is the headline, correct me? You may be eating kale all wrong and missing out on key nutrients. |
| 3:15.3 | Researchers warn. That last part, researchers warn. So let's maybe, I don't even know where to start. Why is this so silly? |
| 3:22.3 | Yeah, I mean, I'm going to have a hard time on some of these. There is actually a study they're reporting on. So I mean, I guess that's the good news. The study was looking, I know, it's like they didn't totally make this up. The study was looking at bioaccessibility of nutrients and kale, and they were doing that with a model that mimics human digestion. |
