Thousands more Palestinians are fleeing Gaza City as the Israeli

military says it's reached the center and is destroying Hamas tunnels. The US

Secretary of State has called for the Palestinian Authority to govern both Gaza and the West Bank once the

current conflict has ended. Scientists say this year looks set to be the hottest on record.

Also in this podcast, I was standing for almost 47 hours, hand-eating bread.

That took a hell of a physical toll.

And I blisters on my hands by the end of it. The chef who cooked non-stop for five days

and five nights will tell you why shortly.

Israel has said it's tightening its stranglehold around Hamas in Gaza City with its

troops now in the heart of the city destroying the entrances to some of the vast network of tunnels

used by the group. Civilians waving white flags have been fleeing the most

intense bombardments in northern Gaza, but with the densely populated territory sealed off and Israel

also carrying out strikes on targets in the South, nowhere is safe. Hospitals are overwhelmed,

entire neighborhoods destroyed and whole families have been wiped out.

Varice Al-Jaward is from the aid organization Doctors Without Borders or MSF in Jerusalem and he told us about conditions in the

Al-Shiva Hospital in Gaza City. Doctors and surgeons are talking about having to

treat patients on the operation theatre floor to weave in and out of

bodies as they navigate the hospital there are up to potentially 80,000 people taking

shelter there the hygiene situation is horrific there's no
