Hey everybody, Rob Mauer here. Welcome back to Tesla Daily. Today, we've got more details

0:11.3

on Tesla's expansion plans for GigabroLin. Also got updates on the Model Y, the Supercharger

0:16.0

Network, some macro items to discuss, and a couple other things as well. One of those

0:20.1

other things, of course, the stock Tesla today down 5% to close at $197.08. This is

0:26.4

the first time since June of 2021, so almost a year and a half ago, that Tesla is closed

0:31.1

below $200 per share. Of course, this was a significant underperformance from Tesla

0:35.4

today, as the NASDAQ was up about 9-10th of a percent. So some pretty rough days here

0:39.9

for the stock. It's a tumultuous period of time with Elon's Twitter acquisition, a lot

0:43.2

of his Twitter activity focused on that, and politics, especially today with midterm

0:47.4

elections tomorrow. So it's pretty easy to point to that and say that that's the reason

0:50.3

for Tesla being down today. Maybe I'm not willing to make that conclusion myself. Ultimately,

0:54.9

I don't think Elon's political leanings or tweets are lack thereof about politics

0:59.1

have much impact on the fundamental value of Tesla as a company, and over the long term

1:03.7

as an investment, that's really all that matters. Now, you may have a point of view that

1:07.8

Elon is restricting his total addressable market by being more engaged in politics, and

1:13.1

therefore that alters the fundamental value of Tesla as a company. Maybe I've said before

1:17.7

I wish Elon would be a little bit less divisive in terms of how he constructs his communications,

1:22.2

and even if I wish sometimes he would keep some of his thoughts to himself, I don't

1:25.2

think it's fair to criticize him for sharing his opinions. And it seems all too quickly

1:28.8

that people forget that some of the characteristics that lead to behavior like this are the same

1:33.2

characteristics that have led Tesla's SpaceX, etc. to tremendous success. Trying to keep

1:38.4

this family friendly here, but Elon's IDGAF attitude should not be a surprise to anybody.
