Not too busy this week, Coach Gaines. I hope you got time to talk to us. I mean, I just don't know what you guys. What other stuff you would be doing doing today not too much quite honestly it's

nice to have a little bit of break just to talk with you guys but as I said earlier

there it's all good stuff we're in a great position absolutely you much rather be

playing and working this year than strictly focusing on recruiting. But you're doing that too.

Let me ask you, you know, the rest of your staff,

how do you manage it all when you've got such high leverage games going on?

You've got to build your roster.

Coach Forbes talks about it all the time.

It's a 24-7 thing.

Like it really settles down when you're actually between the lines.

So what is it really like for somebody just being in this arena in this situation multiple times?

Because I don't think the regular everyday folks really understand it.

Well, first of all, as I said, so much of it to me is just about perspective.

You know, we're fortunate that we're one of 16 teams still playing. We're extremely fortunate

that we are hosting. And the way I look at it is, you know what? That's going to be the first thing I do in the morning is I'm going to focus on, okay, getting our guys ready for the super regional this weekend, you know, whether it's a practice or whatever, or a bullpen.

That's going to be the first thing we tackle.

And then you just, you know, you really just try to structure your time.

You know, I'm going to spend two hours on Southern Cal. Then I'm going to spend an hour on the portal, you know, but that type of stuff comes at the end with obviously our team being the first and the most important thing that we're focused on. So I think as long as you manage your time the right way, you know, and you work hard at it, I think it's, I think it's manageable. I really do.

Let me ask you a personal question. Hold on. I'm getting my questions in because Grace will ask the long ones. What's your favorite thing about being a coach? Is it between the lines? Is it the players, obviously?

God, that's such a good question. My favorite thing is seeing guys have success

when they've worked really hard to achieve that success.
