Hey guys, it's Gary Vay, NerdChuck, and this is the GaryVee audio experience.

It's an interesting time in the business world or in the debate of the business world and the work ethic world and the work life balance world.

There's just been a lot written by me and video produced by me and others about their belief in hard work and the hustle and crushing it.

Obviously there's been a lot of conversation in the other direction around the putting workaholics on a pedestal and the values of the family time.

I guess something is finally synthesized for me and I guess I think of it as sports, which I like so much.

I'm sad and intrigued and trying to figure out those athletes that go so hard are willing to elbow somebody in the eye.

Do everything but cheat to win a championship. Just leave it all on the line.

And who that same guy or gal is off the field can be very different.

I guess how I thought of myself, which is look in the business world and things that nature I just want to go hard. It is type A, it is hardcore trying to win.

And off the field, it's a lot more motherly feeding off of the things my mom taught me and my natural DNA and it's very comforting.

And a lot of what I do even on the field is EQ based and things of that nature.

And so I think there needs to be a conversation that is a third conversation in here, which is for me when I talk about work ethic or hustling or grinding it has so much to do with if you're unhappy.

If you're dwelling or complaining or struggling or just genuinely unhappy with your business or your job and I do think work ethic is something that's very controllable.

I think that we've made everything A and B much like the political world. I think it's important for us in the entrepreneur space and the media space to try to find that middle bucket.

A different plane to conversation on, which is can we put this in the box of if you're happy, then you're good.

Whether you listen to somebody who thinks you should work an hour a week or if somebody thinks you should work 120 hours a week, they're both completely irrelevant because you're happy. You've won.

And I think that's an important distinction so much of my content lacks the context of my 360. And if you take a snippet of it much like if I took a snippet of somebody who's conversating in the other side, you're not seeing the complete picture so much.

If not everything that I put out is for the people that are complaining and dwelling and struggling and are unhappy.

I don't have the audacity to speak to anybody if they're in a great, great spot.

And in the other direction just believing that one size fits all, you know, it just unfair in either direction. Some people really get enormous quality happiness out of putting that jersey on.

It's their safe place. It's the place where they do have happiness. And so I don't know. I've got an energy to see if we can continue the conversation.

I've added to it a little bit. I think in this world of headline reading or one snippet or one blog post or one Instagram picture with a quote where we're jumping away too many conclusions. And so I'm going to use this anchor post to point to to make sure that nobody's confused, which is one.
