Good morning, everyone, and welcome back to another morning's with the masters where we

0:14.5

devote ourselves to the Lord daily with you. Good morning, you guys. Good morning indeed. We

0:18.9

are picking up with day two of our The Seven Laws of Love devotional. In the Bible app, there's

0:24.4

a link to that in the description if you guys want to fall along with us. And as always, I'm

0:27.6

going to read the scripture then towards going to pick with the Devo. Let's do it. The scripture

0:30.6

is John chapter 15 verses 12 and 13. And they say this, this is my commandment. Love each other

0:38.0

in the same way I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's

0:44.4

friends. The devotional is titled Love Selflessly Sacrifices. It says this. The Academy Award-winning

whose brothers have been killed in battle. To spare his family, the agony of losing all their

sons, the government orchestrates a rescue mission to save him and send him home. The rescue team

1:11.0

is led by a no-nonsense army captain who seems to believe that the whole thing is a bad idea.

1:17.2

In the film's final scene, the captain is fatally wounded while fulfilling his mission.

1:22.9

With his dying words, he looks at the soldier in the eyes and says,

1:27.1

earn this, earn it. The film flashes forward many decades and we see Private Ryan as an old man

1:34.2

standing at the grave of the captain. You can tell he has been haunted by those words and

1:39.2

trying to quote, earn it all his life. But he never knows for sure if he has measured up. He

1:46.1

pleads with the grave seeking approval, but he finds none. Many people believe that they have put

1:52.7

their faith in Jesus, but they also believe they have to earn what he did for them on the cross.

1:59.2

Here's the good news. When Jesus was hanging on that cross, dying to save you,

2:05.5

he did not use his dying words to say, earn this. Do you know what he said instead? He said,

2:14.1

it is finished. Did you catch that? It is finished. That means done, complete, sealed, finished.
