and beloved by millions. He also lived a full century. Jimmy Carter is a very lucky man. Not many

of us get to do any of those things, let alone all of them.

His hundredth birthday and October brought in all sorts of celebrations and acclamations.

But given his declining health and the recent loss of his wife of 77 years, Carter spent the

day at home. His cousins were there. His kids were there. His grandkids were there. His great

grandkids blew out the candles on his cake.

The thing he wanted was the thing he got.

His grandson told People magazine.

He was surrounded by family.

He was told that he was loved.

And he knew that he was loved.
