The Mets want Pete back on a short-term deal.

Duquette is reporting that Pete will only take a short-term deal from the Mets.

If this is all true, why isn't a deal done?

I can't imagine they're that far apart on

dollars so that Boris leaked this as a way to pressure other teams to step up. I feel like if this

report is true and an agreement isn't reached within a week or so, there may be a good chance

that David Stearns doesn't really want Pete back and has other plans to fill out the roster.

Curious of your thoughts on my theory, I'll stop typing and listen.

I think you've hit a couple.

Number one, I think Scott Boris will always put stuff out to try to improve his position.

So while I believe the story is probably true, I think you're right. I think if you're

the giants or you're the angels or your team that's interested, because I don't know if those

teams are interested. Those are just reports that have been out there. But if you are a team on

the periphery of Pete Alonzo and you hear this, you may reach out yourself saying, oh, okay, well, we'd be interested in a

short-term deal. You're going to ignore the part where it's exclusively to the Mets. And if you're

Scott, you're not going to hang up on them. And you're going to see, all right, what is out there.
