This is all we have to do.

We know the world throws a lot at our kids.

We know that it's noisy out there and there can be competing influences.

We know they're pretty forgetful too.

These are kids that can barely remember where their backpack is.

How are we supposed to communicate the most essential and important truths of life?

How do we get them to remember what we tell them?

Well, it's by simplifying, by being

straightforward, by repeating powerful and key ideas time and time again with both words and actions.

To be good and to do good, it's all we have to do, John Adams would say to his kids.

And this was also advice he would do his best to live by and largely succeed.

Be good, do good.

That's the moral imperative of life.

That's what we have to do as parents.

That's what we have to teach as parents.

Be good, do good, be good, do good. There's a great line from Seneca where he says it's not just having a long number at the end of your life, but about how you live that life.

And I think this is a big part of the discussions about longevity.

You don't just want a longer life, but you want the ability to do the things that you love in your 60s and 70s and 80s and beyond.
