goings on in the absolutely wild and bizarre world of online media with the YouTube stars and

the TikTok stars and the Bebo celebs and the Vine War Criminals. If they're online and they're doing

something weird, we're probably going to talk about it on this show.

And first up, I've got a great little story for you. This is such a YouTuber news podcast story,

and it really makes me happy. This is about a YouTuber who managed to trick YouTube into sending him a diamond play button.

Now, you probably know how this system works, but I'll quickly refresh you.

When you hit certain subscriber milestones on YouTube,

YouTube will send you a trophy to celebrate that fact.

Now, there's actually a little bit more politics to it than that

because it came out in recent years that YouTube is now no longer sending those play buttons to everyone

because some channels are a little bit suss.

So, you know, if you've managed to get

100,000 subscribers, but your channel is just entirely racist conspiracy theories, YouTube ain't

going to send you a play button anymore. But if you have a relatively normal channel,

YouTube will send you a play button at 100,000 subscribers, a million subscribers, 10 million subscribers, and then there's a super rare

Ruby play button that PewDiePie got for hitting 50 million subscribers, and then an even more

rare red diamond play button that he got for hitting 100 million subscribers. Very few people
