0:00.0 | Hello and welcome guys on a polygetic live. I keep seeing clips from this podcast called the whatever podcast that are going viral and guess what? |
0:07.5 | I'm going on it. So we need to do some research. Let's get into it. |
0:10.8 | Done the problem with the best. |
0:25.8 | All right, welcome in guys. Happy Wednesday. Hope you all are having a very good time today. |
0:31.8 | I'll be doing this podcast and then I'm headed off to you guessed it hot yoga. |
0:37.8 | That's the wrong headed tailors here. Hey, happy women's history month. Amalda, do you want Cam and I to kneel before you and apologize for the page sharky today? Oh my gosh. Yes. I got and get two months in a row. I got black history a month last month and I'll get women's history month this month. What's next? |
0:55.3 | I winning. Oh my gosh. I can't wait for whatever is next for me where I get another month of praise and servitude from other people. Guys, cams here as well in the producer's bay. |
1:04.8 | What's up guys? Chill in there. Today we're going to be going over viral clips out of this whatever podcast. Taylor and I keep seeing this podcast popping up all over Twitter feeds on my TikTok feed Instagram feed. |
1:16.8 | And I guess this is essentially a podcast that's out here in California where they bring together a bunch of girls like eight girls and they're probably in their early 20s or so. Many of them I think are still in school and they talk about different scenarios. |
1:33.8 | Dating, politics, you know, body count, all these different conversations that young women and men are having in this day and age patriarchy versus feminism. And it's toasted by a man. I don't even know what his name is. We should probably look into that considering I'll be there on Sunday. |
1:49.8 | But let's react some of these viral clips. You know, when I go on a new show, I like to do my research, see what I'm getting into. I've seen a couple of these clips and I have a feeling this is going to be an interesting day for me and you'll see why in just a moment. So let's watch. |
2:03.8 | Would you describe yourself as a feminist? Yes. Do you believe in gender equality? Yeah, of course. Okay. So how do you reconcile believing in gender equality, but also holding men to their traditional gender roles of paying for the first date? |
2:18.8 | Well, I'm just saying that's my personal view. A woman being a feminist is just doing whatever you want to do and not being bashed by society for that. And obviously like standing up for like women's rights and stuff like that. But when I don't know, I just feel like this question is really dense. |
2:40.8 | My question is if you believe in gender equality, don't you think you ought to split the bill on the first day? No, because my main concern with gender equality is through like yes in society, like fixing that and through like the system. But yeah, I don't. Oh my god. |
3:01.8 | Oh my god. |
3:04.3 | All right, I can already tell I'm going to give her some good grace here and say I can tell that these are people who are not used to talking about these issues on daily basis. They're probably not studying these things. They're probably not even doing commentary on a daily basis. They just happen to be chillin with this guy and being on this podcast. |
3:23.8 | Let's talk about the question at hand. How do you reconcile this idea of gender equality while also reinforcing the idea that men should pay on the first date or any other traditional gender roles that you can think of. And I actually do have an answer for this. And she could have actually defended herself in this view by saying that gender equality has nothing to do with gender roles. |
3:45.8 | And she could have expressed that really if we're going based off of traditional feminism, what that means is equal value of both genders that one is not above the other. They just simply serve different purposes and have different strengths and weaknesses and sort of function as a yin and yang towards each other. |
4:01.8 | And with that being said, men have a particular strength as it pertains to protecting and providing and what does one do on a first date, but provide the money for the date to occur. |
4:13.8 | But I don't think we were going to get that out of her ideology there. And it makes sense. You know, you don't often think of the ins and outs of what you're saying when you say I want everybody to be equal. |
4:25.8 | You know, you just say the phrase and then you realize, oh, well, maybe that's that's not the case for you. We can say separate but equal. And that would have accounted for her wanting a man to pay on the first date. |
4:40.8 | You're going to be so interesting on this podcast. It's going to be really interesting to see these questions kicked your way or you reacting to people responding to these questions how they are and breaking it down on their behalf. |
