Summary

ISuckAtHiking is BACK on the show, and this time he offically carries the title of Appalachian Trail thru hiker. In our previous episode, I expressed concern about whether Michael would be able to thru hike the Appalachian Trail with his dog, but he proved me wrong! We talk all about that and more in this fantastic episode. Congrats Michael! Dude, okay. I was pretty brutal on you in our first episode.

0:03.3

Yeah, well, you know, some people asked me about that.

0:05.5

I was wrong, dude. I'm just gonna bring the family dog on a through hike, you know.

0:08.7

The star of the YouTube channel was not this guy every single day.

0:12.1

That's insane.

0:12.8

Comment up Katajna is no joke.

0:14.1

How was it getting like real-time feedback on your hike from people on the internet?

0:18.2

So I decided to drink the water without a filter. That's insane.

0:21.7

How the hell does you do that? How's it going, everybody? I'm doing a bit of a different intro here.

0:31.9

I just want to give a little context to this episode. Obviously, Michael is an Appalachian Trail

Thuracker. We talk about the AT for pretty much the entire episode. But this episode was actually recorded a few weeks ago. It was recorded before Hurricane Helen came through and caused all of the destruction to, you know, the mountains and the southeast. And so I thought it'd be a little tone deaf to post this episode about the AT without acknowledging

0:58.2

this and without trying to play whatever part I can play and helping the situation there.

1:06.5

And so I'm going to tell you how you can help.

1:10.0

And the thing is, if you spend any amount of time

1:12.9

on social media, especially if you're following pages about through hiking and the Appalachian Trail,

1:17.9

which I know a lot of you are, probably all of you, frankly, if you're watching this or listening,

1:22.0

I'm sure you've seen tons of people posting different links and different organizations and charities,

1:28.6

ways that you can help. I know for me it was getting a little bit overwhelming, to be

1:32.9

honest. I was seeing so many and I was like, I don't even know what to do. Like who's trustworthy,

1:37.6

who's not. Like, it's all just a developing situation still. But then a couple days ago, I saw that Dan Becker posted a quick

1:47.3

video on his channel talking about ways that you can help bring clean water to some of these areas

1:54.3

working through Sawyer. And Sawyer is a company that I know very well.
