Today we're going to look at one of the most basic commands of God.

It's the third out of ten basic rules for living God gave.

And here's the command simply, you shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.

What we're saying is you don't take his name in vain because his name is his character.

Let me begin with a question.

When you hear somebody say, do not take the Lord's name in vain, what first comes to mind?

Most people think it's a ban on cursing, but in reality it's far more than that.
