Welcome to the Dr. Berg's Healthy Keto and Interminute Fasting Podcast, where Dr. Berg takes you on the

0:08.7

journey for the truth about getting healthy and losing healthy weights.

0:26.6

So you might want to think twice before going on a low-fat diet. I did some extensive research on research regarding low-fat diets.

0:34.6

And I put all of the links down below so you can check it out.

0:39.5

But look at this. In over 65 studies, and I'm talking meta-analysis randomized control trials,

0:46.4

showed that the low-fat group had less weight loss and more blood lipids so their cholesterol went up. Now that's interesting. Why would

0:57.5

the cholesterol go up? Because your body makes over 75% of the cholesterol that you have in your body.

and the other one showed overeating. Well, that makes sense, because if you're going to lower your

1:36.2

significantly lowered estrogen and testosterone.

1:40.9

Another study was 16 patients who had cystic breast, significant reduction in all three types of estrogen.

1:49.0

And then a study with 43 men showed significant decrease in testosterone.

1:53.9

Why is this?

1:54.7

Because all of the sex hormones, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, even cortisol are all made with cholesterol and fat. That's the

2:03.5

raw material. You cut that out and you starve off those hormones. Let's look at insulin resistance.

2:10.5

There was a study of 132 obese adults. In the low-fat group, there was worsened insulin resistance and higher cholesterol.

2:20.3

And that's because if you have insulin resistance, you have more insulin, and that actually
