| 0:00.0 | So you might want to think twice before going on a low fat diet, okay? |
| 0:27.5 | I did some extensive research on research regarding low fat diets, and I put all of the links down below, so you can check it out. |
| 0:38.6 | Look at this. |
| 0:40.1 | In over 65 studies, and I'm talking meta-analysis randomized control trials showed that the low fat group had less weight loss and more blood lipids, so their cholesterol went up. |
| 0:55.4 | Now that's interesting. Why would the cholesterol go up? Because your body makes over 75% of the cholesterol that you have in your body, and so if you eat less, it makes more. |
| 1:06.7 | There's another study with over 28 overweight women, which showed a significantly lowered metabolic rate. |
| 1:14.3 | And there's two other studies that I listed in this group. One was lower satiety, and the other one showed overeating. |
| 1:21.5 | Well, that makes sense because if you're going to lower your fat in your diet, you're going to be hungry a lot more, and you're going to eat more. |
| 1:28.6 | Now, as far as hormone effects with low fat diets, there's one study with 33 women showed significantly lowered estrogen and testosterone. |
| 1:39.9 | Another study was 16 patients with cystic breast, significant reduction in all three types of estrogen. |
| 1:48.0 | And then a study with 43 men showed significant decrease in testosterone. |
| 1:52.8 | Why is this? Because all of the sex hormones, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, even cortisol, are all made with cholesterol and fat. |
| 2:02.0 | That's the raw material. You cut that out and you starve off those hormones. |
| 2:07.4 | Let's look at insulin resistance. There was a study of 132 obese adults. |
| 2:13.4 | In the low fat group, there was worsened insulin resistance and higher cholesterol. |
| 2:19.7 | And that's because if you have insulin resistance, you have more insulin, and that actually can convert and make more cholesterol. |
| 2:26.5 | In the study of 34 Korean adults, the low fat group showed more metabolic syndrome and diabetes. |
| 2:34.2 | And in another study that I quoted down below, if you compare a low carb diet to a low fat, |
| 2:40.6 | the low carb diet did much better with improving insulin resistance than the low fat diet did. |
| 2:47.2 | Now we get into the topic of mortality, death rate. |
| 2:51.1 | There was actually a study with 11,000 Japanese men and a little over 74,000 women showed increased mortality by being on a low fat diet. |
| 3:06.1 | Shortened lifespan. |
