The story of the Church of the Apostles did not begin on Mother's Day, 1987.

It began two years earlier in my prayer closet.

When God began to speak to my heart and says,

plant a church in Atlanta, I didn't even understand what that is. And for 18 months, I said nothing

to anybody. It was between me and God. Because I was hoping that during those 18 months,

and what I was trying to do is to reason with the Lord.

I was trying to persuade the Lord to see things my way.

I was trying to change the Lord's mind.

And yes, to be truthful, I was questioning the Lord.

I wanted to listen very carefully.

My debate with the Lord was not stemming out of wanton disobedience.

I don't believe there is a child of God who is sitting here or watching.

We want to get up in the morning and say, I want to be disobedient.

I really don't think that's true.

The truth is, that call did not make sense to me.

It did not make sense at all.

Truthfully, I haven't had the foggiest idea of how to plant a church. I've never been to a church planting seminar in my life. I've never had

a course on church planting seminar. I've never heard anybody to talk about how to plant a church. I have

no idea. For me to start a church in Atlanta, Georgia, it was the most nonsensical thing

that I felt the Lord was saying to me. I'm involved in a globally reaching ministry. I've always

had a global vision. Even when I was a boy, when I was a teenager,

I had a global vision. And now I'm going to plant a church in Atlanta. I have no idea what
