We all need motivation. We all appreciate motivation. And there's nothing wrong with motivating

ourselves and others. In fact, as many of you know, the motivation industry in this country

is a multi-billion dollar industry. But the question is, what really motivates us?

Now, there are some people who are motivated by greed. That's basically what motivates our life.

Others are motivated by just sheer survival.

There are others who are motivated by fear.

In fact, I read this week about the company that was implementing a pension plan to which each employee going to contribute.

And they made the announcement, but there was one man who refused to sign. His name is Sam.

And Sam said, I've read the fine print, and I just don't think it's going to be paying off

for me. I'm not going to do it. Well, the problem is for the plan to work, 100% of the employees

have to sign on on the plan. work, 100% of the employees have to sign on the plan.

So obviously his colleagues went over and began to beg him, please Sam, sign,

because we all have to be in this thing together.

He said, no, I'm not signing.

So his supervisor came in and he said, now Sam, please sign the plan.

We need you to sign this plan.

He said, nope, I'm not going to do it.

So finally, Sam got invited into the president's office.

And the president put the papers in front of Sam and he said,

Sam, you need to sign these papers or else I'm going to fire you,

upon which Sam took the pen and signed his name. And so the president should have sat back and he said, now, Sam, that you have

signed, why in heaven's name didn't you not sign the first time we asked you to? He said, well,
