All right, so I don't want to get anyone's hopes up, but it looks like the rumors are true.

And we are getting a Lonesome Dove remake.

Yeah, a Lonesome Dove remake.

Apparently a production company bought the rights to the original miniseries starring Robert Duval and Tommy Lee Jones.

They also purchased the sequel, Streets of Laredo, as well as both prequels, Dead Man's

Walk and Comanche Moon. Look, this can either be really good or really bad, but I do think

it's doable. It just has to be done, right? I'll share my thoughts in just a moment, but first,

If you don't mind, I'll read directly from a recent Hollywood Reporter article written

by Mia Galupo, whose name I probably just horribly butchered. Per Mia, quote,

as the Western genre continues its Renaissance, thanks to Yellowstone and its Taylor Sheridan-backed

spinoffs, one of the classics of the literary genre is being put into development.

Teton Ridge has acquired the rights to adapt Larry McMurtry's Lonesome Dove and the subsequent

books in the Pulitzer Prize-winning series. The deal, which was made with McMurtry's estate,

covers film, TV, and all rights except publishing, which remain with Simon and Schuster.

It's unclear if the new adaptation will be for film or for television.
