the no-chitchat podcast. We like to get right into it and what we're going to get into today

is something you might call they can't help themselves. This is about Democrats on Capitol Hill

and I am going to start out and give you the short version of this podcast, really like the

22nd version of this podcast. If you want to just stop after this, you probably can. But anyway,

one, a new government report shows inflation at devastating levels, 9.1% on an annual basis

in the last year. Two, there is a bipartisan consensus that recent massive government spending

has made inflation worse. And three, Democrats are trying to pass more massive government

spending. That's the podcast right there. Inflation is terrible. These enormous spending bills

make it worse and Democrats are trying to do more of that. It's just crazy. Senator Charles Schumer,

majority leader in the Senate, kind of the majority. They obviously have the majority with the

the vice president's vote, but the Senate is split 50-50 between Republicans and Democrats.

Charles Schumer is scrambling to build democratic support and only democratic support for a spending

bill that would pass Congress on a party line vote before the midterm elections. And November,

when Democrats are expected to lose their majority in the House and perhaps in the Senate too.

So there's kind of a familiar story here. Schumer's in negotiations with Senator Joe Manchin,

who is the Democrat who almost single handedly scuttled the last version of his party's big

spending proposal. You may remember it. It was known as build back better. Okay, build back better
